With Small Business Saturday just around the corner, Peter Grant, MP for Glenrothes and Central Fife, has visited Perfect Scoop ice cream parlour in East Wemyss to show his support for small independent businesses.

Small Business Saturday is a grass-roots, non-political, non-commercial campaign that encourages people to support small businesses in their communities, both on the Saturday itself and beyond. Now in its fifth year, Small Business Saturday 2017 takes place on 2nd December and will feature a series of business-focused events up and down the country.

Peter Grant is a keen supporter of the campaign and is visiting a number of small enterprises in his constituency in the run up to the day. Perfect Scoop, an ice cream and dessert parlour, is one such small business who recently hosted a visit from Peter at their East Wemyss shop.

Commenting, Peter said:

“Small to medium enterprises in Scotland account for over half of private sector employment and 40% of private sector turnover, really helping to drive Scotland’s economy forward. That’s why I am supporting Small Business Saturday – to recognise, support and promote small businesses in my constituency and encourage others to do the same.

“Perfect Scoop are a great example of a family-run, local enterprise offering good value ice cream freshly made on the premises daily and other sweet treats in a small community. It’s the only place I know that offers genuine ‘Unicorn’ ice cream, although I’m pleased to confirm that no magical creatures were harmed in its creation! I hope that people with a sweet tooth from all across Fife will take a trip into East Wemyss to sample the tasty delicacies on offer, and help this small business to thrive.

“On Small Business Saturday, I would encourage all of my constituents to consider shopping locally to support independent retailers in their communities and help them to survive and grow.”
