MP VISITS NEW COMMUNITY ALLOTMENTS

Glenrothes MP Peter Grant was shown around the new allotments in west Glenrothes this week. The allotments, next to Glenwood High School, were established using financial backing from Fife Council’s Glenrothes Area Committee last year. As well as the individual allotments, the site includes communal facilities including a meeting room, toilets, and storage facilities.
After the visit Mr Grant said:
“It was amazing to see how the allotments have developed in the few months since they were opened. More and more people are looking for and wanting space to grow their own produce. This area used to be an empty field that was basically a liability for the Council. I’m pleased to see that it’s been turned into an asset not just for the allotment holders but for the wider Macedonia/Tanshall community. The area is very impressive and well maintained, and I hope that lots of people get years of enjoyment out of this.”
